Ruby Red Slippers

Today Denis and CootieGirl are going to a local children’s production of “Wizard of Oz.” Last night as a primer we had the kids watch all but the first 20 minutes of the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland (I knew the setup portion would bore them so I had it start just as the house landed in Oz). Within a few minutes the kids were enraptured with it and so instead of just having them watch the first 20-30 minutes we let them watch the whole thing. CootieGirl was totally into it.

So much so that this morning when Denis took CG shopping with him at Target, she asked if Daddy would buy the ruby red slippers they had on display in the shoe section. He acquiesced, and she came home happy as a clam over her sparkly new shoes.

The show is tonight, so in a few hours they’ll hit the road for pre-theater dinner followed by the show. I’ve read the condensed-for-kids production is really good, and is the perfect length (just over an hour). The fact that CootieBoy was mostly behaved during our recent foray into live theater makes me believe that CG will come home wanting to be a future star on Broadway.
