Today one of my work buddies is celebrating her birthday, but I didn’t go to the lunch. About 15 people DID go, but I had to pass since it’s a Mexican restaurant that serves ONLY authentic Mexican food. There were NO dishes on the menu we found online that could have been adapted so I’d eat it (I hate Mexican food). I’m very sad I’m missing it.
When I realized they were going to a Mexican restaurant, they didn’t believe me when I said I didn’t like that kind of food. So I told them about my 13th birthday. My family took me out to a restaurant, where we were going to eat with my volleyball coach and his family who were good friends with my family. Upon seeing it was a Mexican restaurant, I was horrified that my parents, who KNEW I hated Mexican food, had brought me to a Mexican restaurant on MY birthday. So to keep my dignity, I went into the ladies room and had a good cry. Then I came out, ordered something on the menu and didn’t eat any of it, but just moved it around on my plate so it would LOOK like I ate some of it, hoping that I didn’t look like I had just had a long cry in the bathroom.
That’s a true story.
But I suppose that my mom, dad and I are even. A couple years ago I forgot to call my dad on his birthday. And this year I forgot to call my mom on her birthday, which was this past Monday.
Yeah, I suck. Don’t remind me.
Let me see, you love carbs (tortillas), meat (steak or shrimp), lettuce, and you like some cheese (mozzarella) and fried food. To me that sounds like either a steak burrito or fajita or shrimp quesadilla with no hot sauce. Ummmmmm…..
It’s the spices that she doesn’t like.
that’s such a sad story! i’m sure if you’re ever down in texas to visit my parents, they’ll feed you some scrumptious barbecue to make up for it!
Yikes–now I’m worried that WE might have been the ones with you for that dinner? Please tell me that it was a different volleyball coach???
DUH…I didn’t even realize you had linked to us–so it WAS us! Now I will feel awful for eternity! (or not.)
Cathi, totally not your fault! I think. ๐
I hope you co-workers didn’t gossip about you during lunch – mine would have! : )
Cathi – I don’t know WHO choose the Mexican place as the spot to go, but I certainly don’t blame anyone. At least, I don’t think I do. ๐
Christan – I do know that they were laughing over the fact that I’m the only one they know that doesn’t eat Mexican, but I’m confident they didn’t joke about it in a negative way. And I still got cake – they saved me a piece. ๐
