For the past couple of months I have been looking for ways to monetize the blog without being too over-the-top. I had read a lot about Pay Per Post, and decided to sign up and see what it was all about. After submitting my blog I only had to wait for a couple of weeks before receiving my notification that Cootiehog was accepted.
This morning I took a few moments to add the necessary documentation, including a disclosure policy so that everyone who visits here knows up front that I am going to be paid a small monetary fee for some posts here. That disclosure policy is found on the FAQ page, as well as via the graphic image in the far right sidebar. I am committing to only writing about products or services that truly fit in with what I talk about here at Cootiehog. So, you won’t find me chatting about dating service websites or the best mountain bikes available for trekking through the Appalachians. I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to maintain the integrity of this website and help it evolve with Pay Per Post.
One thing that I really like so far is the interface at the Pay Per Post “headquarters.” Even before I was accepted into the program, PPP allowed me to freely surf through the payperpost blog, forums and dashboard. All of those sections of the website were well maintained, filled with information, and easy to navigate. It was that initial experience surfing the website that encouraged me to sign up to the service. And payment is simple – directly into my Paypal account! Even better, since it is a legitimate commerce business, they will do all the tracking, and take care of all tax forms necessary for claiming the income on my taxes at the end of the year.
All in all, I’m very excited about the opportunity and hope to introduce you to some interesting services and products that are only talked about here because I honestly think you, the readers, will be intrigued by them as well.
Cool deal…I’ve been waiting 2 weeks now to be approved. Good to hear it took weeks for someone else as well.
There’s something about this that I just don’t like. I can’t put my finger on it, but I don’t like the idea. I hope it works for you, though.
Jen, as I said, I’m not going to be doing sponsored posts about anything that I wouldn’t normally talk about here at Cootiehog. I’m not going do a sponsored post just to try and get paid. For that reason, I most likely won’t even do sponsored posts every day, since my choices are limited due to my own insistence on not blogging outside my frame of reference.
WOW… I was reading the post and then … all the sudden half way through the past I was like ” hey I bet she was paid for this post”. I think I am in agreement with your sister… there is just something “not right” about it. I think it lessons the site. Its almost like watching your favorite show on TV and your most beloved character breaks into a Toothpaste that they just love all while brushing there teeth.
As I said to Jen, it’s not like I’m going to do posts about things I wouldn’t normally blog about, and I’m not going to be doing 3 posts a day that are sponsored and no more regular poss. It is strictly an “every now and then” venture.
