I predict by 3 p.m. I will be a zombie.
Went to bed last night around 9:00 p.m. but laid awake for at least half an hour because it was so early. However, the white noise of the air conditioner did eventually lull me into sleep. I woke up at 1:30 a.m. – an hour before the alarm was due to go off. But I managed to drift into sleep again until it went off. Rather than give into the temptation to hit “snooze” just one time, I turned on all the lights in the room and began getting ready. Took a shower, got dressed, makeup. Then I decided to repack my suitcases (I went to a yard sale hosted by an old church friend, and ended up buying a suitcase from the yard sale during the weekend to bring home a few other things that I bought there). In the end, I actually managed to get everything into my original suitcase! I was shocked by that. But not as shocked as Ace & Anthony will be when they see the bright blue empty suitcase in the guest room. *lol*
Managed to leave the house at 3:10 a.m. without waking up the boys, and headed out to the car rental place. I was VERY nervous about that drive because I had three sets of directions and none of them user-friendly. However, I made it there without getting lost, at 3:45 a.m. Waited 15 minutes for the 4:00 a.m. shuttle to the airport (which was surprisingly full – I figured I’d be the only one). Once at the airport the rest was easy – I dropped off my luggage at check-in (no line, took 2 minutes). Went through security (ten minutes) and then drifted over to my gate. All in all, I arrived at my gate by 5 a.m. – plenty of time for my 6:15 a.m. flight.
And what a flight! I was in First Class (first time!), which was VERY nice (no cramped seating, and the seat tilts back more for easier sleeping). Once the flight took off I put on my headphones and slept until we landed. At 7:40 a.m. Quick flight! We had to stay on the plane for a few minutes while they adjusted our gate location (they hadn’t expected us that early). Later, my suitcase was almost the first to come out at baggage claim (it has a “priority” tag on it – I guess that’s a perk of First Class? – and I was in a cab heading for the office by 8:10 a.m.
So all in all a successful trip from New Jersey back to Charlotte, and what a FUN FUN weekend I had. Totally worth it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Ace & Anthony were wonderful hosts (I never expected anything less) and very patient (most of the time) with me as I went all over the place to visit people.
You were a great Guest… (I am sure you mother must know what I was going through when you were over an hour late getting back to the house and I hadn’t heard from you)!
However, you were a fantastic guest and we had such a great weekend. Its hard to think you had been at my house since Thursday Night. Boy did those couple of days fly by. Glad to see you had a safe and relaxing trip back to Charolette. First Class all the way! Enjoy your week and we loved the show as well.
