TV: Wednesday and Thursday catchup

1. Kitchen Nightmares on Wednesday: I only saw the last 30 minutes, but I liked what I saw. More emphasis on quality food in the 2nd half. And I recognized the location – I used to work near there. Now, is Martin the guy that quit and then attempted to sue Gordon? Either way, the restaurant is much better off without him. And I still heart Gordon. There’s a culinary event here in Charlotte this weekend, and Rock, the winner of Hell’s Kitchen 3, is going to be there, along with a surprise guest. That surprise guest had better not be GORDON or I’ll be super-mad.

2. The Office: LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. I love that Jim and Pam are stealth. But Kevin knows. I loved the slow-developing look of happiness on Jim’s face when Pam confessed to the documentary makers that they were, in fact, dating. I loved that Dwight was so completely unfeeling about Angela’s cat, and yet Michael and Andy (or is it Drew?) were considerate. Methinks Angela may spurn Dwight for Andy, which would be HILARIOUS. I loved that Michael carbo-loaded about 20 seconds before the run. I love that Meredith had so many scenes this episode – it makes up for all the cutting room floor scenes from the past three seasons. I loved Creed questioning what drugs Meredith was taking. I loved Creed talking about leading and being a member in cults. I loved Jan feeling threatened by Pam seeing Michael al fresco. I loved Michael talking to Ryan on the phone about the car accident and then claiming it was “merely negligence.” SO many great moments that I’ll definitely be re-watching that several times leading up to next week’s episode.

3. Reaper: Despite the subject matter (parents sell first born child to the devil in order to cure father’s illness and in turn son has to spend his life returning escapees from Hell back to Hell where they belong), I infinitely enjoyed the pilot episode. The lead actor is charming and Ray Wise as the Devil is very funny. Don’t know if this will be a permanent show for me, but I’ll stick with it for a few more episodes to see if it remains as well written.

4. Bionic Woman: I know it’s getting not-so-good reviews, but I did Tivo the pilot although I haven’t watched it yet. My Name Is Earl has also been Tivo’d and not watched yet. I think ER was Tivo’d, but I’m not sure.

5. 30 Rock starts next week. YAY! Moonlight is on tonight and while the show has had not one but two major overhauls in pre-production, I’m still going to give it a shot since I love vampire tv shows. Plus, they hired Jason Dohring (from Veronica Mars) to be on it, so that alone makes it a must see. I haven’t watched Numbers in a couple seasons, but the premiere episode looked intriguing, so I’ll Tivo that for later. And of course, Medium, which is another favorite of mine, will be back.

My understanding is that, yes, Martin is the guy that tried to sue Ramsay. What a punk. Even if he’s only 1/2 as bad as shown in the episode, he totally needed to be gone. Loved the “You can’t fire me, I quit” maturity — maybe he can get a job with Donald Trump. 🙂
