Why oh why is it so frickin’ difficult to get a babysitter down here? I’ll tell you why: everyone uses their frickin’ FAMILIES and all the parents of the high schoolers REFUSE to let their kids babysit on a weeknight. It’s so unbelievably stupid.
Denis and I just want to go to dinner and a movie. That’s all. We’re not going to be out all night gettin’ drunk and stumbling in at 3 a.m. It’s dinner and a movie. Home by 11 p.m. And yet NO ONE (and I mean that literally: NO ONE) will let their kids babysit.
And forget about the college sorority girls we used last summer – they ALL stopped taking our calls after CootieBoy’s ridiculous tantrums at the White Elephant party last year.
And our church is lacking in college/young single women who babysit.
It’s the ONLY thing I absolutely hate about this area.
You should ask the preschool/childrens minister at your church. That is how I got all my babysitting jobs in college.
uh, guys babysit too. How about any young guys in the area or from your church? Just sayin

This is why I keep saying we still don’t know anyone down here. Doesn’t anyone believe me?
Denis – we DO know people. It’s getting annoying to see you keep saying we don’t. We know people that have kids that babysit. The problem is that those same people won’t let their kids babysit on weeknights during the school year.
So go out on a Friday for goodness sake.
Friday nights are football games here – no babysitters available.
I’ll shut up now and wallow in my own misery. Never mind.
