My Pre-K Girl and Potty-Training Boy

Have I mentioned that CootieGirl officially started Pre-K this week? She still has the same teacher as before, but it’s more concentrated on reading, writing, pre-math and the like. Only one other girl in her old class moved up to pre-K.

However, CootieGirl is already leary about going to full-fledged kindergarten. The other day she said to me, “I don’t want to go to a big school. I want to stay with my brother.”

So cute. As much as they bicker and fight, they do love each other. It’s why he cries for her when he’s sad, and why she doesn’t want to go to “big school”.

As for CootieBoy, he began potty-training for real this time. He has no diapers at school, and only wears a diaper at night. Daycare reported this morning that he is going the “hold it as long as possible” route. Apparently on Monday he held out until AFTER naptime to go potty. That’s 3 p.m. folks. As in he was dry from 7:45 a.m. when I got him dressed in the morning to 3 p.m. after WAKING UP from naptime. Yesterday he wasn’t able to go that long, and ended up soaking his pants at 1 p.m. just before naptime. But still managed to go from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. completely dry. And sadly, I saw another bump on his butt this morning. It had come to a head, which was good, but he wasn’t happy when I drained it and put on a bandaid. I told daycare to keep an eye on it and try to clean him up well if he fails to get to the bathroom in time to go potty. I do NOT want a repeat of the last visit I made with him to the pediatrician. He STILL has a mark on his belly where the doctor lanced the last set of boils he got.

So that’s it on the kid front.
