I did manage to finish a new baby receiving blanket tonight, despite having NO energy whatsoever. It helped that I already had one side done from the other day. The other three sides took no time at all. See “Art for Sale” in the sidebar – the top picture with the blue blanket with moons is the new one. It’s very cute and soft, with a pure white fleece on the flipside. I’m planning on making another one, using yellow as the flipside.
In other news, I’ve been working on a new abstract for weeks now, and I’m just really unhappy with it. Part of it is because I’m using mediums that I’ve never used before, and really don’t know how to maximize their potential. I did successfully teach myself how to do acrylic transfers, which are VERY cool and will be used a lot in future abstract artwork, but I’m just generally not happy with the current state of that painting. But since it’s a 16×20 canvas, I am loathe to just toss it. *sigh*
In better news, I did sell a painting today – it was my two-canvas set of the little fishie with bubbles. I did it as a commission for a co-worker and she finally had the time to buy it from the Etsy.com website. I actually gave it to her last week once the varnish had dried. Next up is the commission for my other co-worker – her painting is free since she won the drawing for the Blogathon giveaway that I did in July. The prize for the highest Blogathon donation was a free painting, and since she had already placed an order from me for a butterfly painting, I told her that one could be free-of-charge for her.
