It’s Time For Poker!!

Tonight is our second poker night. We’re going to have the same two couples over as last time, and one guy is bringing his brother who is visiting from out of town. We’ve been cleaning all morning – Denis spent a long time diligently windexing and cleaning all those surfaces that tend to get ignored – the nooks and crannies in every room. I think it may be cleaner now than when we moved in!! He is now mopping the kitchen floor. I vacuumed all the hardwoods, cleaned and put away all my art stuff in the dining room (that’s where we’re playing cards tonight) and dusted all surfaces in every room but the office (no one is coming in here, so I took a pass on that). Once I can get access to the vacuum cleaner again (which I left in the living room when Denis started mopping) I’ll vacuum all the carpets and rugs as well as the steps. Then it’s time to clean the bathroom. Once that’s done I think we’ll be pretty much all set and maybe I can take the kids to the pool for a couple hours before coming home to get ready. This way Denis can have some quiet chill time after working so hard on cleaning this morning.

I’m looking forward to tonight – should be a fun time. We’ve opted to have the guests bring an appetizer that will feed 2-3 people. Between the three couples we should have more than enough food, and it puts less pressure on Denis to come up with something. I did manage to talk him into making his spinach artichoke dip with fried bowtie pasta. It is DELISH and I know everyone will like it. Since we’re hosts, we are making a couple other things, but they are dead easy. One is a cold shrimp platter, and the other is frozen pizzas. I know that sounds strange, but the Red Baron Cheesy Garlic French Bread Frozen Pizzas are more like garlic bread than pizza, so we’ll bake up a few of those, cut them into slices and voila – an hors d’oeurves is born!!
