I haven’t talked about my art stuff lately. Frankly, I haven’t been doing a lot lately because I’ve been so busy. However, yesterday I sent an email out to a handful of folks at The Firm about the Blogathon I’m doing over on that website, and one of the attorneys complimented me on my work and asked about one particular painting. So I brought that in for her to look at this morning, and she bought it. I was very happy about that. And then she asked me to do a special piece for a friend of hers that is having a baby in October and she had a GREAT idea that I’m totally going to run with.
And last night I participated in my second art market. This time I was on the shady side of the street, but there were fewer vendors this time so we were even more spread out than last time, which was frustrating. Also, there were only about 10th of the visitors this time around. I didn’t sell a thing. However, I did have one man take my business card who liked my teapot/cup series and mentioned that he’d be interested in buying a couple for the coffee shop he is opening on Main Street in Rock Hill. I was very excited by that and definitely hope that he contacts me about it.
But the awesome thing was coming home from the art market and finding that five of my ACEOs had sold on Etsy! It was a repeat customer (the same one that bought my Pong ACEO) and that totally made my day.
In other news, another co-worker commissioned a butterfly painting similar in style to the one that a friend of mine commissioned a couple months ago. So that’s yet another piece that I’ll be working on in the upcoming week or two.
So yeah, I’d say it’s going well, my art thing. I bought a bunch of new mediums a few weeks ago to try and do some texturized abstracts and I’m hoping once things slow down a bit (will they ever?) that I can possibly get some larger canvases (20×24?) and just go full on into crazy abstract work.
Either way I really need to get it in gear for the trunk show coming up in September – I’ve realized that even though my Etsy page shows that I have over 50 items, I really only have 30 actual PAINTINGS. That’s not enough variety. So beginning in August I’m hoping that I can do at least 2-3 paintings a week through the end of the month and into September.
Then in mid-September I’ll crank out a dozen or so fleece blankets in both children’s and adult’s sizes. Phew…just thinking about it makes me dread August and September!!! *lol*
