Well, I have good news and bad news with regard to the Project Greenlight Contest. Let’s start with the good news. I am among the top 275 screenplays. Yes, 275. PGL announced the top 250 winners. I am not among them (That’s the bad news.), but I was chosen as an alternate. What is an alternate you ask? Good question. Here is what the official rules have to say about me:
If you have been selected as an Alternate you understand that you must comply with and meet all of the same obligations as a Top 250 Screenwriter, but that you will not advance to further rounds unless (a) one or more Top 250 Screenwriters withdraws, is disqualified, or is otherwise unable to participate in the Contest, and (b) you are next in line, according to your Alternate ranking, to move into a Top 250 slot.
Now I have to hope I am number 251 and that at least one of the contestants is either a “professional” by the rules, doesn’t review the required number of screenplays in this round, has his or her screenplay misformatted (all causes for automatic disqualification), or voluntarily withdraws. Oh, the list goes on. Either way, with around 15,000 screenplays in the contest, I did pretty well with my first first screenplay that I wrote in one month. Let’s see what I can do with a little more time.
I’ve started making notes on my next one. Let’s see where that goes. Thanks again for those who encouraged and made comments on the screenplay. And you can still wish me luck.
Congrats on making it so high on the list. I’d have to say that’s pretty good for a first time. You should be proud of yourself!
Thanks for the congrats. Yes, that is pretty good for a first script written in less than a month. The future looks bright. Jump on my shoulders. We’re taking a wild ride to Hollywood. *grin*
Hey, that’s still a great accomplishment, Jaynee!
…just don’t pull any Texas cheerleader mom stunts anytime soon, hear? You know what I’m talking about.
Jhames, the congrats go to Denis – it’s his screenplay! And I’ll make sure he doesn’t start killing off the competition. *wink*
Thanks, Jhames. I was wondering what you were talking about. Thanks for the follow up, Jaynee.
in this case, I hope someone violated the rules, possible committed plagerism in college, and you get bumped into the lucky round of 250…congrats on finishing nonetheless, xlnt accomplishment I may say so myself!
Btezra, thanks for the good wishes. I feel pretty good about it. Now if I can only get 25 people to drop out, I’ll be back in the ballgame, baby. Crazier things have happened. We’ll see. I’ll let you know if I get bumped up to the top 250.
