More Pool Time

CootieGirl and I got one hour of pool time in last night. She was comfortable from the minute we got there – even to where she refused to wear her lifevest because it restricted her movement. She kept asking, “where’s the girl with the polly pockets?” and I explained that she wasn’t there. However, a woman who met CootieGirl the night before WAS there and they had a small conversation in which CootieGirl showed off her swimsuit to the admiration of the woman. We moved all around the pool and she eventually made a friend in a little girl named Abby (dad: Mike) who was probably over a year older than CootieGirl. Abby had a ring toss game that she was playing, and invited CootieGirl to play (okay, I take that back, CootieGirl pretty much volunteered herself as a willing participant and Abby was too nice to say “eh, buzz off, stalker”).

They played with that for a while and then I could tell Abby was getting ticked off at CootieGirl’s aggressiveness (“No, *I’M* getting the pink ring!”) so I quickly had CootieGirl say thanks and we moved away for a few minutes. However, Abby was a glutton for punishment and came over to us to give CootieGirl her inflatable ring to use. CootieGirl had fun with it until she spied the ring toss game sitting on the sidelines, and all but demanded to play that. Once again I deftly had CootieGirl return the inflatable ring to Abby with a quick thanks, and I moved CootieGirl away so Abby could have some fun with her dad.

For the next ten minutes, CootieGirl was all “Where’s Abby?” and I was all, “Dude, leave Abby alone, man, you’re a bit obsessed,” and she’s all, “No I’m not – she’s my new best friend,” and I’m all, “Single white female, much, homie?” and she’s all, “Bah – that movie sucked, yo. I can’t believe you paid full price for that!” and I was all “Word.”

After about the tenth time asking where Abby was, I decided that for Abby’s own safety it was time to come home. Well, that, and the pool was closing in two minutes.
