Is it so wrong that I want to put up my Christmas tree now? That I want to put in all our holiday cds and sing along now? That I want to line up all my Christmas movies and begin watching them now? That I want to decorate our house in full regalia now?
Yes, I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but if the stores can do it, I can do it!
Normally I wait until the week after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, but I’m chomping at the bit to do it now. I need some holiday spirit because it’s severely lacking right now. During the holidays everyone is nice – and they mean it. Well, they mean it in the sense that they want to be seen as a giving person. But that still works, even if it’s only for a few weeks.
But it’s amazing that preceding holidays people seem particularly rude. Case in point: there’s a woman who rides my M27 bus to Port Authority who cuts to the head of the line every single day. That’s not such a big thing, but when the bus is packed and can only take three people and because of her cutting in line you become Number Four, that sucks. And she does it every day. People kind of hang their head when they see her walking up because they know the score. One of these days I’ll be brave enough to say, “Listen, lady, but you cut this line every day and it’s incredibly discourteous and rude for all the other people who waited twenty minutes for this bus.” I’m sure I’ll get a round of cheers if I ever do that.
But until that day I’ll have to hope and pray that come Christmastime she gets in the spirit of the holidays and decides to wait in line like the rest of us.
This is NY. People are letting her cut ahead without a fist fight? 9/11 really has softened us.
I am looking forward to Christmas as well. Mostly for the snow but also for the time well spent with family and friends.
Go get her! If she does it every day someone needs to put a stop to it. Let it be you…
Just be careful of little Owen or CootieGirl, please.
Of course, that goes without saying.
I’m so happy you’ve chosen those names…I can’t wait to meet little Owen. 😉
Personally, I’m hoping for a little Oliva for my mom’s sake. We’ll have a little Owen next. I’d like a little Owen, and a little Sam Adams, but not before noon. Just kidding. Sam Adams is the breakfast of champions.
ooh, yesterday when i saw all of the ornaments i thought the same thing. let’s bust out the egg nog, jaynee!
*drolls* Oh, Meegan, I completely forgot about THE EGG NOG! Next to pumpkin pie it’s my favorite thing of the whole season….Yummy! If you are good, I’ll make you a Chocolate Eggnog Pie. It’s delish!
I understand your family’s desire for a girl. I have a similar desire for a boy. We need to balance out the estrogen with some testosterone!
To be honest, I’ll be way too happy with either!!!
I agree, it’s time to smack that line-cutting twit with a Christmas tree. And then give her a piece of your mind.
I would cheer for you in spirit, the disembodied kind. Boo!
