Scared of the Scale

This morning I stepped on the scale for the first time in over four months. Back in October, you may recall, I rejoined Weight Watchers and in late November I joined a gym that was opening in my area. Well, as I am prone to do, I eventually stopped going to WW and stopped going to the gym (in fact, I’m about to call and put a six-month freeze on my portion of our account since the painting takes up a lot of my free time now).

For Lent I gave up going out to lunch and started bringing in my lunches instead. Our vacation fell in the middle of that time, so I extended it even further to make up for that lost time. So today was the first official “post-Lent” day for me at work. And so I decided to step on the scale for the first time since I stopped going to WW back in December. I was very nervous about it, since I haven’t exactly been faithfully watching what I eat or do.

However, I am happy to report that I am four pounds lighter than I was at my last WW meeting. I’m very glad about that, and will continue to bring my lunches to the office except for splurges on paydays.

Of course, rather than say, “Hey that’s great!” when I told him, Denis’ response was “Well, you know, if you had been going to the gym all this time I bet you would have lost more.”

NOT what I wanted to hear at that particular time, but I let it go. Sooner or later he’ll learn that sometimes just saying “Good job, honey,” is all that needs to be said.

LOL – that is such a Jean/Harold moment. Allow me to be the first to say, GOOD JOB, HONEY!

Sounds like my husband! He’ll say: it doesn’t matter what you
weigh if you’re not toned. UGH!
Anyway – congrats on the unexpected weight-loss!
My resolution is (any) restaurant food only 1 time per
    week…and that’s really, really hard!

Restaurant food only one day a week has been the death of me ~ I started WW today.

Very sorry, Sweetie. I’m happy you lost 4 pounds. I’m sure you will keep it up. Great job.

You got a nice apology. They don’t mean it, you know! It’s a male thing.

Congrats, 4 pounds is 4 pounds! Good work! I’ve just started bringing lunches again and I think that is really key in the process to a healthier lifestyle.
    Restaurants are evil! 😉

I just thought about what I said and I didn’t MEAN that Denis’ apology was insincere! I meant that men don’t always think about how the comments they make come across. Sorry!!! Minding my own business…..
