Last night I fell asleep watching the Dateline NBC special about what happened at Virginia Tech yesterday (which I won’t comment on other than to say that my prayers are with all the families of the victims as well as the parents and family of the shooter). I didn’t wake up until 6:21 a.m. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, but this morning it WAS an issue because I fell asleep with my contact lenses in.
What’s surprising is that I did not wake up A SINGLE TIME from the time I fell asleep until I woke up this morning. Not even a fidgety wake up where I realize I’m still on the sofa and too lazy to get up. No, in this instance I fell asleep, and that was all she wrote. If I HAD woken up at some point in the night, I would have immediately gotten up to remove my contacts, knowing I shouldn’t sleep in them.
So this morning at 6:21 a.m. when I woke up I felt like I had bricks in my eyes, and quickly took them out, despite the fact that I’d have to put them back in around 8:00 a.m. And when 8:00 a.m. rolled around I was loathe to put those things back in. I cleaned them thoroughly and popped them in. Blinked a few times. Okay, not so bad. I think I’m okay.
But now? At 10:38 a.m.? I’m miserable. My eyes hurt, they are a tad bloodshot, and I look very very tired.
I want my glasses back.
Reminds me of my college days when I didn’t have back up glasses and often wore my contacts for way too long.
You have my sympathies.
Ouch ~ hope your eyes recover from it.
