Well, we didn’t want to talk about it while it was happening, but Denis and I have some news to share.
When we first moved to Fort Mill, we put enough profits from the sale of our NoNJ house into our savings account so that we had about 12 months of easy living when combined with my salary so that Denis could build up his real estate business down here. However, when we hit Month Nine Denis still hadn’t had a single deal come through (he found that locals wanted to use locals to sell and transplants wanted to use locals to buy – this freezing him out since he’d been here less than a year). So about six weeks ago he began to send out his resume to get back into the web industry.
We had no idea how long it would take, but thankfully God took care of us and Denis got a call a few weeks ago about a position in Charlotte. He went and interviewed, and they liked him enough to have him come back a second time to meet more folks. The next day they called with a job offer. Denis accepted.
Today is his first day at his new job! I’m VERY happy for him that it was so easy for him to get a job once he decided to leave real estate. I know we were both very nervous about how long it would take, given how long he’s been out of the web industry. However, he found a great organization to sign up with, and they seem to be excited about him being there.
One perk is attending conferences a couple times a year – including at least one in New York City, which will allow him to visit his family. Next week he’ll be heading for Dallas, Texas. The job doesn’t have a lot of travel, but enough to keep it interesting, I suppose.
The new job also means that from now on I’ll be taking the kdis to daycare in the morning, which means I have to get up 30 minutes earlier than I have been. Fortunately this morning they were on their best behavior and I got to work on time.
Anyway, about Denis’ job – what’s amazing is that the pay far exceeded what we expected him to get, given our location in Charlotte, NC. That was a total answer to prayer. And his commute is about 15 minutes each way!!! Even more crazy – his boss lives just ten houses down from us in our subdivision, AND goes to church with the family that lives in the house behind us. Small world!!
Anyway, that’s our news. We’re very excited and relieved and thankful and humble and nervous and grateful and happy all at the same time.
We are so thankful to God and proud of D.
Congratulations, Denis! That is wonderful news, and I’m so happy you’ve been so blessed in SC!
Congratulations, Denis! Good going!
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
For a brief moment I thought you were going to announce that you’re pregnant and then I realized that you would have told me that first. And that you’re not planning anymore kids. =)
Congrats, Denis!
Heh, same thought here (not that she’d tell ME first, but that she was…well, you know)
Congratulations, Denis!
Of course, she would have told Denis first. And then the rest of the family, and then blogland.
You really need to get out more. Maybe it’s not all about Denis? Maybe there is just a little more?
Congratulations to Denis! 🙂
No, she may have told the blogoshphere about her pregnancy first, then me, then the rest of her family. LOL
Thanks for the good wishes. So far, so good with the job. I’ll tell you more after I’ve been at the job a while.
