What a disappointing night on American Idol last night. Some notes:
Melinda Doolittle, “Sway”: Did she look AMAZING or what? She hit the trifecta last night: perfect makeup, perfect hair, perfect dress. She’s never looked this good and she looked FABULOUS. As for the song, it was very basic and a bit boring. Sure, her vocals were good, but when it was over I was still gushing over how the neckline of her dress and the style of her hair made her look like she actually had a neck.
LaKisha Jones, “Conga”: Poor KiKi. The stylist obviously didn’t save enough for our KiKi. While her makeup was also flawless, her dress was atrocious and made her look even fatter (due to the amount of backfat on display). As a big girl myself, I can tell you that if KiKi KNEW she had that much going on in the back, she would have asked for a sweater or jacket. Didn’t like the song at all – could she be in the bottom three? Maybe!
Chris Richardson, “Smooth”: The judges were on crack last night because this was so bad we fast-forwarded through the second half of the song. Imagine our surprise to hear the judges praise him. It was AWFUL. He could also be in the bottom two if his girlfans don’t vote for him.
Haley Scarnato, “Turn the Beat Around”: Or, as I like to call her, Whorey Haley. And this week’s outfit kinda proves that point, huh? Sure, she does have amazing legs, but girl – you should let your VOICE determine if you stay or go, because obviously the short skorts aren’t enough (given that you are in the bottom three just about every week). As for the song – it wasn’t horrific, but wasn’t good either. It was just bad karaoke.
Phil Stacey, “Maria Maria”: J.Lo. said that Phil would give us goosebumps, and you know what? He did. About halfway through his song I got them. What a nice voice this guy has. Too bad he has no personality to back it up. And sure, his voice cracked twice during the song, but overlooking that (which can happen to ANYONE), it was a great song. But, since it’s Phil, he may be in the bottom three as well.
Jordin Sparks, “Rhythm is Gonna Get You”: This was her first bad song of the season. The whole thing was a jumbled mess and I didn’t like it at all. Plus, I was too focused in on her weird collar on her shirt, and the fact that she had fake hair going.
Blake Lewis, “I Need To Know”: He’s the only one that can dance and sing at the same time. And do it well.
Sanjaya Malakar, “Besame Mucho”: Dare I say it? The best Sanjaya has been, and the best of the night. I thought he did an amazing job and deserved much higher praise than he got. The song was THE PERFECT FIT for him. Soft, smooth, relaxed. Just like Sanjaya! I absolutely adored it and actually thought about listening to it again as soon as it was done, I liked it that much.
So who’s going home? It’s Whorey Haley’s turn, but it could also be someone out of left field, like KiKi or Richardson.
I love it when “Latino/a” night consists of Gloria Estefan and Carlos Santana…with a random Marc Anthony sidecar.
Next week…”Songs from the Cascade mountain range”.
wow, not with you this week…loved jordin and hated phil…
i actually enjoyed sanjaya, but i thought blake was the best
Stacy: *lol* Yeah, I knew we’d be hearing a lot of bad 80/90s music last night. I was also surprised that Blake didn’t whip out some Tito Puente beatboxing.
Amy: I agree that Blake was good, but I still think Sanjaya did EVERYTHING right last night.
How about some Songs of Appalachia? Good ole bluegrass could be an interesting things to see, although it’ll never happen.
I was horrified with how good Sanjaya was last night. *sniff*
Blake could end up winning this thing.
woohoo, Haley got the boot! good call, Jaynee!!
Congratulations to you, Annie, for the new little one expected later this year! Welcome to Cootieland!!
