The Hall Tree

I keep meaning to post a picture of our new hall tree that arrived this weekend, but I keep forgetting. Mom and Dad got it for us for Christmas and it had a significant back order timeframe. It arrived Friday night, and we put it together on Saturday morning. Ours looks like the one pictured only it’s the dark cherry wood. I posted the lighter picture so you could see the Arts & Crafts detailing on the wood. The instructions to put it together were a bit painful (read: left out steps, or pictures were wrong), but Denis got it together while I kept the kids occupied in another room. It’s a perfect fit just next to the entry door and is the best place for purses, light coats, hats, scarves and mittens that need a place to go.

We had an end table in the spot where the hall tree now stands so that we’d have a place to put stuff, and with the hall tree in place, we moved that table up to the master bedroom to act as a nightstand next to the bed. We then moved the original night table to go into the guest room. Since the master bedroom is a large room, we can handle having the larger end tables act as nightstands. We still have to hang pictures and curtains in the master bedroom, but every week or so we get something done in the house. I predict I’ll be done “moving in” sometime this summer. πŸ™‚

The kids quickly figured out that if they sit on the sixth step on the staircase, they can see themselves in the mirror on the hall tree. CootieBoy “played” there for at least 15 minutes after we put the hall tree in place. Very funny.
