During our vacation in Scotland I could swear I saw a sign saying, “Don’t forget – Mother’s Day is March 18!” I panicked, thinking, “Oh my gosh, how on earth am I going to remember to get something for my mom the very week we’re back from vaca?” So I got her a pretty sweater at a shop in Callendar, which I presented to her upon our return, thinking it was only a week early.
I go online today and find that Mother’s Day isn’t until MAY 13. Wha…? Does Scotland celebrate on a different day, or something?
So Marmie – that sweater is now part of your “thanks for taking care of the kids” present, NOT your Mother’s Day present. You’ll have to wait until May for that.
That’s funny! I knew the Brits called it something different (Mothering Sunday) but I didn’t know it was a different day!
Wikipedia has all the answers.
Thanks! I just thought you were being super diligent like I was with the Easter, Anniversary and CootieGirl’s birthday gifts. 😉
I never saw the sign for the date of March 18th, but there were plenty of signs out for consumers not to forget to buy gifts for their moms. When you told me you were picking up the sweater for your mom for Mother’s Day I thought you were being diligent too. I thought you were going to wrap it up and send it to her in May. I didn’t realize you were going to give it to her when we got back. Then again I never saw the signs you did.
