They should just let all the guys go home and leave our final six ladies in place. Because we know the final six, right? I think we’re safe on that. The only guys I see sticking around are Blake, one of the Chris’ and Navy Guy.
Stephanie Edwards, “How Come You Don’t Call Me”: She was one of my top two picks without even really hearing much from her. Loved her song last night – she already looks like a pro, much like Daughtry did last year.
Amy Krebs, “I Can’t Make You Love Me”: I pitied her following Stephanie’s strong debut. Poor thing. Not good.
Leslie Hunt, “Natural Woman”: She was on my list as the one to be the most annoying, but I thought she did a decent job (bear in mind – she was singer #3 and the best was yet to come, so there was little to compare her to at the time). But pretty decent. Won’t make top 6 women though.
Sabrina Sloan, “I Never Loved a Man”: Wow. Wow. Wow. Another great vocal. They hardly showed this girl at all during auditions, so I was blown away by her song last night. Definitely top six.
Antonella Barba, “Don’t Want To Miss a Thing”: Egads. Yet more proof that the girl that was booted off just before this one has a right to be pissed. She was probably screaming at her house somewhere knowing that she would have at least made it past Week One of the semifinals.
Jordin Sparks, “Give Me One Reason”: Mark me down as one that hates Tracy Chapman songs, but this girl made it enjoyable!! How poised she is and not like any 17 year old I know. Her perkiness reminds me of America Ferrara from “Ugly Betty” only without the braces, glasses and polyster.
Nicole Tranquillo, “Stay”: Hideous. She’s the only performance of the night that I fast forwarded through after the first 30 seconds. Definitely going home.
Haley Scarnato, “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”: This girl needs to leave Hollywood, move to New York and start going to Broadway auditions. That’s her best bet, if she can act. If she can’t, then it’s to the chorus for her!
Melinda Doolittle, “Since You’ve Been Gone”: YAY for Melinda! She’s one of my top two picks for a reason! She rocked it and I was mesmerized by her performance. She totally needs to sing a Tina Turner song this season – she’d command it like only Tina can.
Alaina Alexander, “Brass in Pocket”: Another bad one. And I hate Chrissie Hynde. Go home!
Gina Glocksen, “All By Myself”: She’s the only white girl that will make the top six of women. Or, SHOULD make the top six. I thought her version was quite good, and she DID hit the note. The first second of it was a bit off, but then she settled into the note and held it in perfect pitch. Simon needs to see the playback for that one because he was wrong about her missing the note.
LaKisha Jones, “And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going”: Girl. Friend.
All in all a great show and I’m LOVING five of the women this year. They are going to make the Top 12 shows VERY exciting to watch and wouldn’t it be *fantastic* if our Final Top Five ends up being Stephanie, Sabrina, Jordin, Melinda and LaKisha? I would LOVE that.
And this is scary: DialIdol.com’s predictions on the voting. If those numbers are true for the ladies’ number two (HORROR!) and the men’s number two (MORE HORROR!) then we may be in for a rocky season after all. Looks like we have this season’s Nikki McKibben and John Stevens all picked out. Oh goody. 🙁
Lakisha rocks. Love her!
