Tonight is poker night and in the past 48-72 hours we’ve had four people back out on coming. So we’re lucky if we’ll have six people TOTAL (yes, that’s including us). And yet we’ll have enough food for twice that.
Denis did so much food prep work yesterday and needed to finish some this morning, so after I gloriously slept in (9:30 a.m.!) I spend the morning vacuuming and cleaning around the house. Vacuuming an entire house takes a LONG time. No wonder I hate doing it.
It’s been a very chill day – I played a lot upstairs with the kids so that they wouldn’t bother Denis while he was prepping. It’s hard playing with them when they want to bring out all their toys just after you tidy up their rooms, but I made them happy by throwing a ball down the hallway and letting them chase it back and forth. We did that for about 20 minutes or so until CootieGirl got bored and went downstairs. CootieBoy and I kept up with it for a few minutes longer and then after a quick few rounds of Hide & Seek we came downstairs.
Now we’re just in a holding pattern. I’m doing laundry, the kids are watching tv, Denis is taking a shower and I’m surfing the net. We won’t go into hyper mode until about 5:30 p.m. as the official start time of the night is 6:30 p.m.
