I loved this movie. A fantastic cast and very well written. This is the story of the car ride from hell, where a little girl wins the opportunity to take part in a beauty pageant in California. The family opts to all go together in the family van. Hilarity ensues.
You know what made this movie so much better than your average “look at how dysfunctional this family is” movie? This one had a GREAT heart and a good sense of humor. Other dysfunctional family movies are just depressing, but this one was great because the end of the movie had hope. The end of the movie wasn’t “We’ll always be dysfunctional regardless of what happens”. Instead this movie opted to say, “We may be dysfunctional, but you had better not do anything to hurt one of us because we stick together!”
I can’t recommend this movie enough.
4 choruses of “Superfreak” out of five.
Funny. This is the first indie movie I think you liked more than I did. Didn’t care for it much. Just another bunch of oddball charcters to me. “National Lampoon’s Vacation” meets “American Beauty.” That’s all I have to say about that.
