As you saw by the post below with Denis’ pictures, we went to the zoo this weekend. After being shut in by rain for several days and nights, Saturday was a beautiful day – highs in the low 70s, bright blue skies – so we hopped in the car and went to the zoo in Columbia. The kids had a blast, as did Denis with his new camera. The parking lot was packed with cars, but we were surprised by how empty the zoo actually was – not nearly the crush of people we envisioned. We spent three hours there and then the kids kind of went into meltdown mode (no naps), so we quickly hopped in the car and drove back home.
But then yesterday the clouds came in again and it rained the whole day, which was miserable.
Overall the weekend was a good one – the kids got along and spent much of yesterday afternoon playing together while I reorganized the upstairs hall closet. They knew I was there, but instead of competing for attention they played little games by themselves, like hide and seek. CootieGirl was also Miss Bossy at some point. She shut her bedroom door, which upset CootieBoy, who started crying a bit. She opened her door and said huffily, “Are you hurt? No? Where does it hurt?” He just stood there staring at her, so she sighed again and said, “What do you want?”
“A book,” he finally managed to get out.
“Okay,” she said, opening her door to him again, “Come get one.”
Then last night CootieBoy was following Denis around, but then Denis went outside to put their daycare blankets and pillows in the van, and CootieBoy began crying as the door closed. He came running back into the tv room, at which point CootieGirl said, “CootieBoy, calm down. What’s the matter? Let me help you. What’s the matter?”
“Daddy!” CootieBoy wailed, pointing toward the hallway.
“Okay, you want Daddy? Let’s go find him. C’mon, I’ll help you.” With that, they began heading to the hallway just as Denis came back into the house. I heard her say, “Daddy, CootieBoy was looking for you. Here you go.”
I wish I had my video camera running for those exchanges because they are so funny and sweet all at the same time.
Boy, don’t you just hope that wonderful attitude lasts forever?!
Oh, and by the way, I LOVE the new header!
Marmie, there are now multiple headers. It’s a rotating banner that will change everytime you visit the website. There are about 12 pictures in the rotation right now.
