Yet again I think CootieGirl has a staph infection. I don’t know how she does it – it’s always the same place (her butt) and they seem to appear overnight out of nowhere.
She’s potty-trained at this point, so that can’t be the issue. She’s been given every kind of medicine on the planet since July whenever she has a breakout and yet they keep coming back.
Daycare kicked out a kid about a month ago for bringing head lice into the school (fortunately, CootieGirl never got them and the school was great about clearing out and disinfecting the entire school when they were discovered – in fact, they bagged up a lot of the kids’ extra clothes and wouldn’t give them back until they were treated). Now, they didn’t kick out the kid the first time, but two weeks later when the SAME kid came back AGAIN with lice – that’s when she was given the boot. I fear that they may do the same to CootieGirl since she keeps getting this infections, which are supposed to be very infectious (however, having said that CootieBoy, Denis nor I have EVER gotten one despite our constant contact with CootieGirl, so obviously we’re doing that part well).
But this has got to stop. She NEVER had them until we moved here to SC. And now that we’ve moved here she’s had at least 8-10 instances, which is just simply unacceptable.
Tomorrow I’ll be calling the pediatrician to seek advice as to what can be done about it. I don’t want to have to keep taking her to the doctor if I know it’s a staph infection, and would prefer they phone in a prescription so that we can go pick it up right away.
The other concern is having her on antibiotics so much which will do a number on her digestive system. Make sure she eats lots of yogurt whenever she does have to take them. That was my mistake and the result is IBS.
Marmie – I’ll be sure to up her yogurt intake if she gets another round of meds. Thanks.
Let’s hope we don’t need to get her antibiotics. Did you speak to the doctor today?
No, I haven’t called the ped. yet – wanted to see how she looked tonight since I didn’t get a great look this morning.
