The Last of Our Year-End Free-For-All Spending

Last post about buying something before year-end. I think.

We bought a pre-lit tree for the kids. It’s not the 8.5 footer that I originally wanted. After talking about it last night, Denis and I decided to keep our current tree unlit 7.5 foot tree, which works well for us. Instead, we opted to buy a SMALLER pre-lit tree for the kids. It was on sale for a decent price with free shipping and no state tax. It’s 4.5 feet tall, with multi-color lights. Next year we’ll use it in the TV room and will let the kids decorate it with all of THEIR ornaments. Denis and I will then put up the current tree in the formal living room and put all the BREAKABLE ornaments on that one, with the instruction that they keep their mitts OFF. Denis and I think they’ll really enjoy having their own tree to decorate for the holiday, and it’ll look nice in the tv room since we use multi-colored pre-lit garlands in that room as well.

I’ve decided to convert one of the guest room closets into “Christmas/Gift Central” and put as much Christmas and gift stuff in there as I can. I plan on installing shelves in there to make storage that much easier, and with any luck we’ll get everything in there – the ONLY thing that might not fit is the larger of the two trees, although it just might – we’ll see when the time comes to take down this year’s decorations.
