In Praise of BlueHost

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my current web hosting service? I used to use Hosting Matters – a company based in Florida that was really good when they were small. But as they grew bigger their customer service was sadly lacking and we had many problems on the backend of our website. But this past Spring we switched to BlueHost, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice. Not only do I get tons more options and capabilities, but their customer service is outstanding and prompt to help.

Last week I got an email from Hosting Matters letting me know they were ready to renew Scratch Mittens. This despite the fact that they had no control and no access to the web domain since I have it parked and locked with Blue Host. I contacted them via their knowledgebase help desk to remind them that I had closed my account back in the spring. The surly response?

“Ticket closed. Would not have been necessary if client informed us of the move.”

Are they kidding? The kicker was that the moderator who responded was the very one that I worked with in the spring to ensure that my account was CLOSED.
