Well, last night the desire to just sit and veg out almost won, but I managed to get two loads of laundry done and prepped another dish for the party. Then this morning I put clean sheets on the bed in the guest room since our friends Ted and Anne arrive tonight for the weekend. But our list of chores is long.
1) Vacuum whole house
2) Move all boxes to the garage
3) Declutter, declutter, declutter – we took a lot of stuff out of boxes but then never DID anything with them, so we have to get that stuff stored away or repacked
4) Clean all bathrooms
5) Put together our cookie takeaway packages
6) Clean up master bedroom
7) Swiffer all hardwoods
8) Prep remaining 3-4 hors d’oeurves we plan on serving
9) Make Chocolate Egg Nog Pie
*sigh* Tonight and tomorrow are going to be rough!
Update at 7:54 p.m.: All items striked were done by Denis today. He ROCKS!
Since your blog is soo much more enjoyable (at least to me) than Dooce’s – AND you post much more frequently, you should jump on the advertising wagon, and use that money for a HOUSEKEEPER!!!
WOW! Thanks for that amazing compliment – I consider Dooce (and Fluid Pudding) to be the funniest two ladies in the blogosphere.
Sadly, I don’t have nearly as much traffic as they do, so advertising here would be a bit of a waste. I’d earn maybe $5 a month if I was lucky. 🙂
As for a housecleaner, last year I did hire a housecleaner to come in before our big party, but since we’re new in SC I haven’t had time to find a good referral for a cleaning service, so it’s up to us to do it this year. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to bring one in the day before the party.
Good luck with the party! (And yay, Swiffer!)
I agree that Dooce is a funny, and often poignant writer, but I enjoy your writing more – I really think it shows more depth of character. And, I think if someone were to read the 2 side by side 100 years from now, yours would be genuine, guileless take on life as a mom in this era.
So…send that to the ad guys – you should be earning some dough for this!
