TV: If You Aren’t Watching This Show, You Must Be Crazy

“How I Met Your Mother” is my new “Seinfeld”, my new “Friends”. This show – which was rocky during the first couple of episodes as most sitcoms seeking an audience are – is now hilarious just about every week. It has become part of my Monday night ‘must see tv’ (along with “Heroes”). I initially only tuned in because Willow from “Buffy” was going to be on it, but I kept tuning in because it was just getting funnier with each episode and Neil Patrick Harris was comedy gold as Barney.

This season has not been a disappointment. A couple weeks ago we got “Crazy Eyes”, which was one of the funniest episodes of the season in which the secondary storyline had a coffee barista mistakes Barney’s name for ‘Swarley’ causing all his friends to begin calling him Swarley. AND the episode had a Friends tribute in the opening scene and a Cheers tribute in the closing scene. LOVED IT. Then last night we got a “Robin Sparkles” video and slapbets (I would have taken 10 at once as opposed to 5 anytime through eternity).

In any case, if you are not watching this show, then you are missing out. Whereas “The Office” has lowkey, understated, and sometimes painful hilarity, “HIMYM” is being obvious in it’s desire for laughter – and succeeding in my mind.

Totally agree with you in every way about this show. I thought it couldn’t get better than the Crazy Eyes episode, but I was dying with the slappage and Robin’s mall singing and dancing (especially the rapping) this week. Love it.

You are so right…one of the (if not the) funniest shows on TV…it’s definitely come into it’s own this season!
