WW: 1.8# Gone!

I didn’t think this week would score a loss, what with going to the zoo on Saturday and an unexpected church anniversary BBQ yesterday afternoon. However, the WW scales don’t lie, and I lost 1.8 pounds since last Monday. I’m very happy about it. So my official loss in three weeks is 3 1/2 pounds.

In other news, we got a flyer at the house for a 24-hour gym that is opening up soon in Fort Mill. I left them a voicemail inquiring about membership costs, and since I’m in the first 100 callers I’m eligible for $0 membership fee (just the monthly fee), three months of tanning for $27 and one free session with a personal trainer. For a 12-month subscription it’s $39/mo, or $468, and I’d be able to go any time of day that I could possibly want. That’s a good thing – if I decide one night to go work out at 10 p.m. – I have the flexibility to do that. If I have insomnia at 3 a.m. and want to go work out – I CAN! *lol* The downer is that they will literally only have fitness machines (treadmill, elliptical, bikes, etc.) – no classes and no pool.

Alternatively, the local YMCA has amazing facilities – indoor pool, classes galore, FREE childcare until 8 p.m. – it has a $75 joining fee and then is $67/mo for the WHOLE FAMILY – meaning Denis can come and the kids have access to activities as well as they get older.

Both places are within a 5-10 minute drive from our house (heck, I could even walk to both of them if I was really feeling ambitious), so that’s not an issue at all.

So the question is: Am I more likely to work out late at night after the kids are asleep, or am I more likely to work out right after work and possibly put the kids in the Y’s free childcare for an hour?

One pro to the 24-hr gym is that I don’t lose any “kid time” with CootieGirl and CootieBoy whereas with the Y I’d be taking them there for an hour then pretty much putting them to bed once we get home – thus no kid time whatsoever other than getting ready for school and getting ready for bed on the days that we go to the Y.

First off, you wouldn’t walk to either of these places. The new gym is much closer to us, but I don’t see you walking there. Secondly, If you signed up for the Y, I’d stay home with the kids if you wanted to work out right after work so day care isn’t an issue. I think the cost makes more sense for you/us to join the new gym. If in a years time you have lost weight and want to switch to the Y so you can swim, I say go for it. Congrats on the continuing weight loss. I think having me bake cookies with the tub of cookie dough had something to do with your loss.

First off, I could walk it. It’s probably only a mile to the new place, right? Secondly, the Y childcare would be if the both of us worked out together. And no need to quit the new gym to join the Y when the neighborhood has a pool that will be available for “free” (read: HOA dues).

And I highly doubt you baking the dough was the reason since I ate the majority of the cookies you baked as well. *lol*
