Once again we went down to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. We all have a blast down there, and the weather has gotten better each time we go.
What was cool this time around was that we saw a few animals we somehow missed on the prior two visits AND CootieGirl got to ride pony this time around! It’s a small little area of the park where they let kids hop on and take a couple laps around a trail. The whole ride is maybe three minutes, but CootieGirl seemed to really enjoy herself and wasn’t scared at all to get on the pony.
CootieBoy enjoyed seeing all the animals – especially the elephants. We were over at the meerkat display (my personal favorite) and all CootieBoy would look at is the elephants in the huge area just past the meerkats. What was cool was that the elephants – one in particular – were really close to the fencing this time around.
We were there for a few hours before the kids started to fade. The zoo is a nice way to spend the day – we left the house at 11 a.m., got home at 5:30 p.m. and other than a couple I-missed-my-nap-and-now-I-shall-cry moments a good time was had by all.
The zoo!! We are big, big fans of the zoo. Grace loves the Bronx Zoo and being members we go all year. Before she started school full time Rob and her would go on Mondays and have the place to themselves especially in the fall/winter. The aquarium in Coney Island is a favorite too!
Hey, just posted two of those three shots over at the kids’ sites. I guess I should have checked here first. LOL
