Well, CootieGirl’s room is all set up and in near-perfect order. CootieBoy’s room is also in really good shape. The office is about halfway there although we’re in desperate need of legitimate “office” furniture (that I hope to get from my employer in the next couple of weeks since we’re moving to a new location with all new stuff). But at least the computer and tv are set up.
Sadly, despite this success, there are some pitfalls.
My grandmother’s chair is ripped. It’s the chair in which she sat to take her engagement photo back in the 1940s, and I love that chair. Sadly, the move was not kind and ripped a long 6″ gash in the wicker back and the carved wooden medallion on the back of the chair is barely hanging on. I’m devastated.
And my Fiesta isn’t the only china that took a hit – my *other* grandmother’s Blue Willow suffered some minor damage as well – fortunately it was only a piece or two. I’ll find out about the Fiesta tomorrow since that’s at the other unit that is being moved over tomorrow.
Okay well I’m going to go have a bowl of cereal for dinner (yes, at 10:44 p.m.) and then I’m going to collapse on the mattress in the guest room.
Needless to say, I am devastated, too. It was about a hundred years old, and was the chair Grandma sat for her high school graduation picture. DO NOT throw the chair away. Let’s see how it can get it fixed.
Dad, that chair could be hanging together by a thread and I would never throw it out. I agree that I want to find someone that can fix it – but I’m going to wait until the dust settles from the move and then begin investigating ways to have it repaired without breaking the bank.
