Here are the things I took away from “Eight Below”:
1) Dogs are great and I love them.
2) Paul Walker is almost as bad an actor as Ben Affleck. Almost.
This movie was supposedly inspired by a real event, although they made no mention of it in the special features (which were paltry) on the DVD. However, if something like this DID happen to some dogs in Antarctica, then I am absolutely amazed by that. I would love to visit Antarctica for a vacation (I know, you are in shock, right?) and don’t know how on earth dogs can live in such cold temps (their poor paws!).
It was an okay movie if you are willing to overlook PW’s horrible acting and Jason Biggs’ over-the-top character. It was all so very Disney, and that’s the best way to explain the whole thing.
2 1/2 loose dog collars out of five.
LOL…I agree the acting was pretty bad. But, the big reunion scene at the end was a real tear jerker!
I see you just finished The Zero Game…Brad Meltzer is one of my favorite authors! He just had a new book come out last week & I need to get going on that.
After I watched it, I did a little research and discovered that the true story is much more horrible and that Eight Below is a remake of a Japanese movie called Nankyoku Monogatari. You can read about it and the true story here.
Dad would love to go to the Antarctica for vacation so you two have a ball.
Yeah, you and I can stay home and sip tea, Marmie.
My CootieBoy LOVES that movie. But the walrus (or whatever the heck that thing is!) scene where it’s chasing the dogs under the ice is awfully scary.
