So today has been yet another busy day as I tried to crank out ALL of the tasks that I could that Mr. Russell gave me. I’m down to two: 1) A list of where all the files I use can be found and 2) A “job user manual” for the person that takes my place.
Mr. Russell and Mr. Professor came up with a great idea earlier this morning. The Company has an internal temp service that it uses for it’s offices. They are going to see if I can be brought in to that temp service at a certain pay rate (my freelance hourly rate) and then use me as they need me for projects as they arise. This way I can keep my work email address, my laptop, and my access to The Company’s network to get to my files. It would be the most convenient way to work for them and keep some of the access that I currently have. So we’ll see how that goes and if it gets approved.
I went to lunch today with 9 ladies that I work with – the food was delish and it was nice to spent some time with The Ladies. I really enjoyed working with all of them and will miss the instant cameraderie that I felt with them when I started working here last July. I doubt I’ll enjoy that kind of easy acceptance at any other job I might get in the future. Tomorrow I’ll go out to lunch with the 3-4 women that couldn’t go today, which I’m also looking forward to.
Tonight Denis is hanging out with his RE crew for bowling and beverages, so I’ll be home with the kids for a nice quiet night. I might put CootieBoy to bed early and take CootieGirl next door to the pool. Or maybe I’ll take them across the street for one last pool party with our neighbor’s kids. We’ll see.
