Can I tell you just how dingy our walls were? Man, when we started painting the stairwell the difference between the new white paint and the old “white” (now grey) paint was amazing. We got to the top and realized that it meant we’d have to paint the doors (which also looked grey). It’s so white and vibrant now it’s like a totally different stairwell and upper hallway.
Then we tackled the kids’ room while they were across the street playing with our neighbor’s kids. We did two coats on the walls and opted NOT to paint over the peach on the ceiling. It’s actually a cool contrast and I’m glad we decided to keep the ceiling peach. It ties in the bookcase (which is painted cream and peach). The bookcase in turns ties in the trim and doors, which are cream. You would think it would clash, but it really doesn’t – it’s all very nice yet neutral.
Denis also touched up some spackling he had done around the house, particularly in the laundry room and the bedroom over the garage.
The kids will have to sleep with us tonight because their room will smell too much. It’ll be weird because CootieBoy’s normal bedtime is 7:30 p.m. and since he can’t sleep in his crib, it’ll mean he stays up with us. I moved CootieGirl’s toddler bed into our room so that’ll be no problem.
All that’s left to do is the trim work near the carpeting. I’ll do that Monday while the kids are at daycare.
