There is nothing worse than logging into your work computer only to have it act as though it is brand new. And it wasn’t until that happened that I realized just how much I had on my c: drive. Cleaned up client logos, Mr. Russell’s expense reports, various PDFs of documents he uses regularly, travel agendas for upcoming trips, call reports. And not just those – all my music, my personal stuff, my document templates, my Internet bookmarks. It was all GONE.
I called our IT guy for help and as I waited I tried to work on a presentation that El Presidente wanted me to do. But my computer was all wonky and wouldn’t even let me work in Powerpoint. Finally, the IT guy showed up and I went to work on another computer while he fixed it. Apparently my log-on got messed up this morning so it created a new profile for me – thus all my access to my original c: drive was gone. By the time I was done editing the presentation in another office, IT guy had fixed my computer. He recommended I move business related stuff to the network so that I don’t have to worry about losing it.
I’m doing that right now.
