I am pretty pleased with the top 24 finalists for this season’s finalists. There are about half that I consider “throw-away” contestants, but I’m curious to know which ones are going to get picked as the “keep the bad ones” campaign winners this year. Last year if you recall it was Scott Savol and Anthony Federov who went much further than they should have.
My three picks from the men:
Ace Young. Just for the name alone since I have a friend nicknamed Ace. He’s the obvious heartthrob for the season, so I predict he’ll make it to at least the Final Four.
Chris Daughtry. Love him. He’s a much better rocker than gag-me Constantine. If he doesn’t royally screw up the disco week (which you know they’ll have) he could go pretty far.
Taylor Hicks. My man! I fear he won’t last long since his voice is so bluesy and probably not suited to pop, but if he makes he should make it at least a few weeks because at least three guys that deserve to go before he’s even considered. He’s my sentimental pick – he won’t win, but I like him.
My least favorite male: Sway. I don’t get it. He’s not that good at all.
My three picks from the women:
Hello Mandisa! She’s fabulous. That is all.
Lisa Tucker. She’s been in “Lion King” and is used to performing in front of large live audiences. Plus she’s got an amazing voice. She’ll go far.
Kellie Pickler. She’s the sob story of this year, and has a decent voice. If she keeps it together and doesn’t cry every episode, she could become the new America’s Sweetheart.
My least favorite female: Brenna. Her personality is grating and it may turn off the voting audience as well even though she’s a moderately good singer.

My sister and I were debating the Sway thing…we don’t get it either. Hey, Elliott may not be a looker (and who is next to Ace), but he can sing, too.
I think this season is all about the guys. I love Taylor but like you, I don’t think he’ll make it all the way. He’s just so loveable. But he’s bluesy not poppy. Ace and Chris…they will be neck and neck all through the season. I think they kept Brenna on just for the drama of it. There’s got to be one everybody hates. Anyway, I think this is going to be a pretty good season. I’m looking forward to it!
