I have to tell you that I was thoroughly disappointed in “The Constant Gardener”. It got such high praise from critics that I thought it would be a brilliant movie. It wasn’t. It was a tad boring in some places, despite the fact it was supposed to be a thriller. Ralph Fiennes did a fine job, but I don’t see why Rachel Weisz is getting all the accolades – I didn’t think her performance was overly remarkable.
It’s the story of a modest British diplomat who meets and marries a brash young woman hellbent on making the world a better place. They go to Africa where she dies mysteriously. The husband then begins a private investigation to find out what really happened. A promising plot, but not told well enough in my opinion.
