Movie: Dummy

A couple nights ago Denis and I watched “Dummy”, starring Adrien Brody. We figured it was such a small independent movie that it was probably done before his Oscar winning turn in “The Pianist”, but we found out when the movie was over that it was released in 2003.

Adrien Brody stars as a shy awkward 30-year-old man who still lives with his parents. He gets fired from his job and decides to fulfill his dream to become a ventriloquist. He buys a dummy and begins to form a relationship with his alter ego.

This movie was quiet but fun. It had a great cast (Milla Jovovich and Illeana Douglas to name a couple) and the writing was enjoyable without being that typical “I’m too hip for the room” dialogue that you sometimes see in independent movies.

If you like small movies that are entertaining, funny and interesting, then I recommend “Dummy”.
