Last night we chilled and watched “Hitchhiker’s Guide” and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Now, I never read the book, so I wasn’t going to be hyper-nitpicky about the story and what was missing, changed, yadda yadda yadda. So going into it completely blind I found that the story was fun, interesting and well told.
The cast was great – everyone did a nice job. I don’t remember the lead guy’s name, but he’s also in the original British version of “The Office”, playing the cute guy that likes the receptionist. For that reason alone I was pleased about his appearance in “Guide”. Mos Def did well as Ford Prefect and Sam Rockwell was PERFECT as Zaphod Deeblebrox (or whatever his name was). LOVED Marvin the Robot.
The movie was charming enough that I’ll definitely buy and read the book – I’d love to read the more fleshed-out versions of these characters.
3.5 point-of-view guns out of five.
