A Long Night

Well, last night we didn’t get much sleep. CootieBoy was up pretty much all night. We had him with us in bed and every 10-15 minutes he’d start crying and rolling around. We took turns sitting up with him (he was okay when we were in the rocker but the minute we tried to lay down he’d start crying). At about 3:50 a.m. I got up for rocker duty and after 30 minutes he was out cold so I figured it was safe to get back in bed.

Nope. He started up again the MINUTE I got in a nearly horizontal position with him on my chest. So Denis took over and actually went downstairs. He said that the second Denis sat on the sofa with him, CootieBoy passed out. So poor Denis sat on the sofa until daybreak, watching tv and holding his sleeping child so I could get a couple hours sleep before work.

What was even more miraculous? This morning CootieBoy was in a GREAT mood – chirpy, laughing, giggling, running around. I hope daycare doesn’t let him sleep all day though, or else we’ll be up all night again tonight.

Sounds like an ear infection. When they seem fine when upright, but cry when horizontal…
Ear infections can be sneaky. Hope he’s ok.

Yep, sounds like an ear infection to me too! When the little guys lie down the pressure builds up in their ears so that the pain wakes them up. We actually put our son in his car seat in the crib to sleep so that his head was elevated to get through some particularly tough nights. Ear infections are rough on babies and parents. Hope all is well.
