Paul made a suggestion in the comments of the post below asking me to post links for charities helping animals left behind in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He listed a couple charities and I thought I’d add one to the list.
International Fund for Animal Welfare is an organization I’ve donated money to a couple times over the past few years. They are actively rescuing animals in NOLA and Mississippi and every dollar you can donate helps.
They have set up a request to raise $130,000 specifically for a unit to be sent to the Gulf region to rescue animals. You can donate here.
Thanks Jaynee! Any small contribution that we can offer will make a big difference for these animals. My cats & I thank you!
Thanks for the link Jaynee, and Paul, I wasn’t sure who to donate to for the animals in the wake of Katrina, IFAW is a great cause and I just made my donation!
If you go to http://www.hurricaid.com you’ll find a clearing house of posts and links related to all kinds of relief work in the Gulf region.
Noah’s Wish is also doing some great work in the affected areas, as is the North Shore Animal League.
I donated to the SPCA of Texas here in Dallas, which is bringing at least a hundred animals up here to free up space in Houston for the onslaught they’re going to get in upcoming days.
Their website is http://www.spca.org.
