Crawfish and French Toast

Today’s the day! We leave tonight for New Orleans! I’m *so*excited to be going on vacation – even though we come back Sunday night. I’ll take anything at this point.

We stayed up late last night – cleaning the house for our dogsitter, Ace; packing; de-pooping the backyard; planting my last bunch of flowers; doing laundry; etc. Lots of hard work (mainly on Denis’ part since I was caught up watching “American Idol” and “The Shining”).

Denis made a crawfish dish for dinner last night in honor of our trip. It was pretty tasty. And no, I didn’t suck the brains out of the head, or whatever it is you are supposed to do with crawfish.

I’ll be leaving work early today in order to go home, show Ace what he needs to do while we’re gone, and then head to the airport. JHP and LP leave for New Orleans this morning – so they’ll be all checked in and will have the afternoon to explore a bit. We meet up with them tomorrow for breakfast at Petunia’s – a fantastic restaurant in NOLA that serves the most amazing French Toast I’ve ever had in my life. It’s the vanilla they use – it’s some exotic version that is delightful.

On that note, I’m off for my morning’s cup of oatmeal and to start my day. Hope it goes by quickly…

Enjoy your trip, particularly after yesterday’s “unpleasantness”. Have fun and make great memories.

Alas the poor brainless crawfish of the world, getting your noggin hoovered does not make for good memories 🙁 Can I get an “Amen!”?

My wife and I love New Orleans. We have been there twice on vacation. I love Cajun and Creole food. I do suck the heads of crawfish. I do eat alligator sausage. I do drink Dixie beer (large quantities if possible). Have a great trip!!!

    P.S. Did I mention I am jealous?
