Movie: Brother Bear

This weekend CootieGirl and I took time off from “Shrek” only briefly and watched “Brother Bear”, a cartoon movie about an American Indian who does time as a bear in order to learn about love. Or something.

We’ll talk about it in toddler terms, since the movie is obviously steered towards kids. In a phrase: CootieGirl left about 1/3 of the way through it. But she loved that 1/3 that she watched. But then she lost interest and walked away to go play with some toys.

Joaquim Phoenix is the voice of the boy/bear and was a good fit with the animation. This is not a musical cartoon – thankfully. Some may recall that this is the movie that featured the voices of the Mackenzie Brothers (otherwise known as Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis) as Canadian Moose. They had a funny beer reference which made me laugh.

For CootieGirl, she’ll give it 1 1/2 and I’ll give it a slightly better 2 totems out of five.
