I have to say that I really like Diane Lane. I mean, “Streets of Fire” notwithstanding, she’s an interesting actress to watch because she seems very natural to me on screen.
“Under the Tuscan Sun” is about a woman who buys am old dilapidated villa in Tuscany, Italy after a miserable divorce leaves her with interminable depression and very little else. As she renovates the broken villa she renovates her life as she meets new friends and begins to learn to live again.
Nice little movie – and it makes me want to buy an old dilapidated villa in Tuscany, Italy without going through a miserable divorce and the interminable depression.
3 1/2 smarmy Italians with their flowery over-the-top romancing out of five.
I liked Under The Tuscan Sun, too. I thought it was going to be a melodramatic chick flick, but I was really pleased that it was actually more of a romantic comedy and a story of a woman “finding herself” after divorce.
I’m excited to go see “Must Like Dogs.” Diane Lane has a real knack for that “oh, the tragedy of it all” humor. 🙂
