First Up: You’re in Public, Girl

I wanted to post about the random woman I saw on my NYC bus yesterday to my office. I was sitting, minding my own business, near the rear door, when a woman boards the bus singing at the top of her lungs. I thought nothing of it, figuring she’d stay near the front, but instead she made her way to the back, coming to a halt standing directly in front of me.

She had stopped singing at that point, which relieved me. As the bus left the stop, all was fine. But suddenly, instead of singing, she was gesturing. Wildly. And then the singing started up again.

Oh Lord, grant me patience.

So there was this woman, singing and moving her hands as though she were on that American Idol stage singing for the prize. A couple people moved away from her, fearful of being hit by a stray flailing hand, and there I was completely captive since she was right in front of my seat.

If I could have taken out my cellphone and taken a picture I would have, but I was afraid she might beat me if I did. So I just sat there. Trying not to laugh or flinch.

I hoped that she’d get off at a stop before mine, but alas she actually got off at my very stop. So I had to endure 15 minutes of a really bad performance.
