Book: Heir to a Glimmering World

I finally finished “Heir to a Glimmering World” by Cynthia Ozick, and I don’t recommend it. I’m glad I finished it as opposed to putting it away without knowing the ending, but I didn’t enjoy the book much.

That’s all I have to say about that.

Next up: The delightful pulp fiction of Nora Roberts! And Danielle Steel!

    Yay for Nora!

Actually, I’m tempted to read the Roberts paperback I have before I move on to Book 3 of the Christ Clone Trilogy. I’ve stalled a bit and I’m thinking I need some trash to clear out the brain a bit. 😉

Book: Heir To A Glimmering World

I hate it when a book is bad. Especially one that is so well written.

I’m in serious doubt as to whether I’ll take the time to finish “Heir to a Glimmering World” by Cynthia Ozick. The premise sounded interesting enough – “orphaned young woman goes to work for weird immigrant family in The Bronx.”

Well, I’m about halfway through the book and I have no idea what is going on. The father of the immigrant family is some weird cult guy, the wife is nuts, the kids are boring, and even the lead character, Rosie, is completely uninteresting.

Yawn.

I’ll try reading a bit on the way home tonight and if I still hate it I’m putting it down and reading something else.
