Looking to build your dream home? Want to live in the country? Well, Kansas has a deal for you! Apparently, in an effort to keep towns alive and viable, the state is giving away free land to those who promise to build homes and live on the lots once construction is done. They will also give you a 10-year tax abatement and a $1000 school credit for any child enrolled in the local schools.
May I recommend Atwood, KS, which is less than 20 miles from the Nebraska and only an hour from the Colorado border?

Maybe we can talk to Bush about this. Considering he’s going to take away my ability to deduct my state taxes from my Federal return, costing me several thousands of dollars per year, he might as well give us free land to make up for that.
