After “Bleachers” sucked the big one, I was a bit concerned about John Grisham. However, “The Last Juror” totally restored my faith that JG is not going to be the next Danielle Steel after all.
“Juror” is a completely engrossing story set in late 1960s Mississippi and follows a young man who buys the local paper and spends the next 20 years heavily involved with small town life – the pitfalls of racism, the horror of a murder, the fear that someone is seeking revenge for a prison term. This was no Danielle Steel book. It was Grisham at his best.
4 gavels out of five.
Really?! Hmmm…
Mz. J – Thanks for the loan of the book – As soon as I finish reading “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini (great read btw), I will get stuck into the Grisham book.
I was happy to hear that you liked it. I just started reading it last night, it took me several pages to start getting into it, but now I’m starting to really enjoy it. Glad to know it doesn’t get really bad half way through!
