Over the weekend Denis and I watched “Intolerable Cruelty” starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Privately I hoped the movie would be so bad that I could make some pithy joke about how the writer of this movie subjected me to some of his own intolerable cruelty, but it wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad.
This is another Coen Bros. movie but not nearly as good as so many other movies in their past. From George Clooney I saw a little bit of the goofiness that h portrayed in “O Brother, Where Art Thou” but for the most part this movie was a little flat for me.
It’s about a man-hunter (Zeta-Jones) who marries men for money and promptly divorces them and moves on to the next one. Clooney is a divorce lawyer who falls for her despite knowing she’s a shark (and maybe even because she is one).
It had a few cute moments, but for the most part it was kind of lackluster.
2 stars out of five.
