Movies: The Whole Ten Yards & Kill Bill Vol. I

It’s sad when a sequel is so indescribably bad that you can’t even remember why you liked the original in the first place. Such is the result of “The Whole Ten Yards”. It’s amazing that such a lame script was able to entice back ALL of the main actors from the original, which was really just a slightly better than average comedy.

As for “Kill Bill, Vol. I”, I was really disappointed. I realize he’s going for a whole kung fu revenge genre thing, and that it’s Quentin Tarantino, yadda yadda yadda. Don’t worry – I get it. Still doesn’t make this a good movie. I do not know what all the hoopla was all about on this one. Sure, the fight scenes were well done. But that’s all this movie was: ONE LONG FIGHT SCENE. Which is tiresome at some point. I remember when this movie first came out some said it was way to violent, but it was COMICBOOK violence. I see where they are coming from – and not just because of the comicbook scene. But when the end credits came on I turned to Denis and said, “Are you serious that you want to own this on DVD?” I don’t see it. The only good thing? The dance music playing during the O-Ren/Bride fight scene – that was some good music playing there (I don’t know if Rza wrote it as he did the rest of the soundtrack, but whereever it came from it was GOOD).

Update: I just found that that particular song from the O-Ren/Bride battle is “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” by Santa Esmeralda.
